Kosovo President Justina Shiroka-Pula, accompanied by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, paid tribute at the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Velania on Monday, marking the 37th anniversary of the deaths of Afrim Zhitia and Fahri Fazliu.

During the ceremony, Shiroka-Pula honored the lives and contributions of the two activists, emphasizing that their sacrifice remains an inseparable part of Kosovo’s history and its struggle for freedom.

“They did not live to see the day of freedom, but they gave their lives so that it could come. Their names will forever remain connected to this freedom and to our responsibility to build Kosovo as they envisioned it and for which they sacrificed themselves,” Shiroka-Pula said.

The commemoration at the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Velania brought together Kosovo’s highest institutional representatives to pay tribute to Zhitia and Fazliu, whose deaths remain significant in the country’s history of resistance and pursuit of independence.
