Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, met on Friday with José de la Mata Amaya, Vice-President of Eurojust, the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation.

During the meeting, Gërvalla stressed that organized crime knows no borders and that justice must not stop at national boundaries.

“At a time when organized crime, corruption and criminal networks operate across national borders, close cooperation with Eurojust is essential. No country can tackle this challenge alone,” Gërvalla stated.

She emphasized that coordinated investigations and prosecutions, the exchange of information and evidence, and direct cooperation between judicial authorities are essential mechanisms for strengthening institutions’ ability to combat crime, regardless of where criminal activities take place.

“No country should become a safe haven for criminals, no border should serve as a shield against the law, and no gap in international cooperation should create room for impunity,” Gërvalla said.

The minister reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Eurojust and European partners in the fight against organized crime.

“The fight against organized crime requires strong institutions, international coordination and unwavering determination to ensure justice is served, regardless of borders or the power of criminal networks,” she concluded.
