Danish police said on Friday that they had launched an investigation into threats targeting air traffic at Copenhagen Airport, while stressing that their initial assessment indicated no immediate danger to passengers.

The investigation comes amid a wave of bomb threats that disrupted dozens of passenger flights across Europe on Thursday. The incidents forced several aircraft to make unscheduled landings, while fighter jets were deployed to escort or intercept other planes, marking a dramatic escalation following an initial series of threats earlier this week.

“We are back at Copenhagen Airport today in connection with threats directed at air traffic. We are now investigating the incident and have a visible police presence at the airport,” Copenhagen Police said in a statement.

Copenhagen Airport confirmed the police presence in an emailed statement, adding that airport operations were continuing normally.

On Thursday, a military bomb disposal unit inspected two aircraft at Denmark’s largest airport following a threat. However, no explosive devices were found.

Authorities have not provided further details about the latest threats or identified those responsible.
