The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Justina Shiroka Pula, met with the country’s mayors on Friday, gaining first-hand insight into their work and hearing directly about the achievements, problems and challenges facing municipalities.

According to the President, local government is the level of governance closest to citizens, with municipalities serving as the first point of contact for people seeking solutions to their everyday problems.
She emphasized that at the local level, citizens see every day how institutions function and how much responsibility they demonstrate.
President Shiroka Pula also described municipalities as a bridge connecting citizens with central-level institutions.
She assured the mayors that she would support them within the scope of her constitutional powers.
The President further pledged to promote the potential of Kosovo’s municipalities during meetings with representatives of foreign countries, international institutions and development partners. She also committed to working towards attracting foreign investment and securing new funding opportunities for municipal projects through international donors.
