The United States and Germany are set to deploy additional troops to Kosovo.

Following the September 24 attack in Banjskë, Zveçan, NATO member states have increased their military presence in the north.

Soon, 100 soldiers from the Idaho National Guard are expected to be stationed in Kosovo.

This was announced through a statement from the U.S. Army.

“Operation Joint Guardian is a joint mission under the United States European Command. The soldiers will focus on training and supporting allied partners,” the statement reads.

“Task Force Sawtooth soldiers have been working and training diligently over the past 18 months for this deployment,” it adds.

Meanwhile, the German Bundeswehr has announced that 200 military personnel will be deployed to Kosovo.

“For years, German participation in the KFOR operation was characterized by a reduction in contingents.”

“However, since rising violence has threatened regional stability since 2022, the Bundeswehr is sending an operational company of about 200 men and women to the Kosovo KFOR force in 2024. Through its patrols, it will provide a bit more security,” the statement notes.
