Prishtina Municipality will install a large screen in Skënderbeu Square on September 12, allowing citizens to follow the Hague court proceedings involving former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), according to Deputy Mayor Besianë Musmurati.
In an interview with Ekonomia Online, Musmurati said the municipality has organized a series of activities in support of the former KLA leaders, including the “Hour of Waiting,” a mural dedicated to the four former KLA leaders being held in The Hague, and an exhibition by war photographer Visar Kryeziu.
She said the main event will be the “March for Freedom,” organized by the “Liria ka Emër” organization and scheduled for Saturday, September 12, at 2:00 p.m. in Skënderbeu Square.
“We will strongly support the march as the City of Prishtina,” Musmurati said, calling on citizens and representatives of all political parties to participate.
She emphasized that the municipality’s activities are intended to support what she described as the values and legacy of the KLA, saying that the war of the KLA should not be viewed through political divisions.
Musmurati also announced that a large screen will be installed in the square so citizens can watch the court proceedings live.
“We will organize a large screen in Skënderbeu Square and invite citizens to follow the court session live,” she said, expressing hope that the proceedings would end with what she described as a fair decision in favor of the former KLA leaders.
According to Musmurati, the event is expected to be organized together with the KLA Veterans Organization and will be open to citizens and the media.
The Hague proceedings involving Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi have remained a major public and political issue in Kosovo, with supporters continuing to organize demonstrations and other activities calling for their freedom.
