Bedri Hamza, the Prime Ministerial candidate for the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), and the Mayor of Mitrovica strongly condemned the recent explosion in the village of Varagë, Zubin Potok, which caused significant damage to the Ibër-Lepenci water canal, a critical infrastructure that supplies water to multiple regions in Kosovo.
In a statement on Facebook, Hamza visited the site to assess the damage firsthand and called for immediate action from law enforcement. He urged authorities to swiftly investigate the attack and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
“I visited the site in Zubin Potok to evaluate the destruction caused by the explosive device to the water canal. I strongly condemn this act of violence and call on law enforcement to investigate the incident thoroughly and hold the perpetrators accountable,” Hamza stated.
The Mayor of Mitrovica also voiced concern over the disruption to the region’s water supply and pledged ongoing communication with relevant institutions to resolve the situation as soon as possible. He expressed hope that the damage would be repaired promptly to avoid further inconvenience for local residents.
Hamza emphasized the urgency of the situation and reassured the public that efforts are underway to mitigate the impact of the attack. He stressed that Kosovo’s security institutions must work closely with international partners to prevent such incidents from recurring.
