Donald Trump’s First International Trip After Election Victory Will Be to Paris for Notre Dame’s Reopening Ceremony
President-elect Donald Trump will travel to Paris this weekend to attend the reopening of the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, marking his first international trip since his election victory. The historic cathedral is set to reopen on Saturday after more than five years of restoration work following the devastating fire in 2019 that nearly destroyed the beloved Paris landmark.
The reopening ceremonies, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, will be high-security events, with around 50 heads of state and government officials expected to attend, according to The Guardian. Trump announced his plans to participate via a post on his Truth Social account on Monday evening.
“It is an honor to announce that I will travel to Paris, France, this Saturday to take part in the reopening of the magnificent and historic Notre Dame Cathedral, which has been fully restored after the devastating fire five years ago,” Trump wrote.
“President Emmanuel Macron has done an outstanding job ensuring Notre Dame has been returned to its full glory and beyond. It will be a very special day for everyone!” he added.
This trip marks Trump’s first journey abroad since his November election win.
