Following a raid at two locations in Zubin Potok, former police investigator Srećko Vuković was detained for 48 hours on charges of illegal firearm possession.
Veton Elshani, Deputy Director of the Mitrovica North Regional Police Directorate, confirmed the arrest stating that Vuković was detained for possessing an illegal hunting rifle.
In addition, Ivan Janićijević, the former head of Operations in Zubin Potok, was questioned by Kosovo Police but was released in regular procedure.
Elshani further explained that Janićijević is being investigated for misconduct during his official duties. “He has been processed in the regular procedure for misappropriation during his official duties,” Elshani stated.
The police raids took place in two locations within the Zubin Potok municipality, in Varagë and Zubin Potok. During the searches, officers discovered police equipment, including a bulletproof vest, police gear, and a radio communication device.
Elshani mentioned that the items were not handed over as required. “We found uniform pieces that were not returned, along with other police equipment such as a bulletproof vest, a police device, and a radio communication tool. One individual is being interviewed as a suspect,” he said.
