The damage caused by the terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc Canal on November 29, 2024, has been estimated at approximately 400,000 euros, with the intended damage initially projected to be around 2.5 million euros.
This information was revealed today during a visit to the Ibër-Lepenc company in Pristina by Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli.
Minister Rizvanolli emphasized that, despite the attack, the commitment of institutions ensured that the power plants continued operating without interruption. When asked about the specific damages caused by the attack, Minister Rizvanolli referred to the matter as a “technical issue.”
Meanwhile, Faruk Mujka, the CEO of Ibër-Lepenc, stated that discussions with Prime Minister Kurti focused on the terrorist attack in Varagë near Zubin Potok.
In a prior visit, both the Prime Minister and Minister Rizvanolli had also toured KRU Pristina, where the Prime Minister described the attack as a terrorist act, organized by criminal gangs with the support of the official Belgrade government.
The Ibër-Lepenc Canal supplies critical areas, including Zubin Potok, South Mitrovica, the North, Vushtrri, Drenas, part of Pristina, and all of Fushë Kosovo, as well as the Kosovo Energy Corporation.
In response, the Security Council has approved additional measures to strengthen security around critical infrastructure and services.
The United States and other QUINT countries have condemned the attack.
