Kosovo’s President, Vjosa Osmani, has defended the Central Election Commission’s (KQZ) decision to disqualify Srpska Lista from participating in the February 9 elections, emphasizing that the organization includes individuals involved in terrorism and constitutional violations.
“Srpska Lista is an organization with members who have consistently engaged in acts of terrorism, aggression, and violations of the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo,” Osmani stated
The decision by KQZ has sparked reactions from diplomatic representatives in Kosovo, including the United States, European Union, and the United Kingdom, who labeled the move as political rather than legal.
However, President Osmani underscored KQZ’s independence as a constitutional institution.
“The Central Election Commission (KQZ) is an independent constitutional institution that makes decisions autonomously. Every decision made by KQZ must be respected as part of our commitment to the rule of law and institutional integrity,” she added.
Lista Srpska has officially appealed the disqualification to the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (PZAP), which now has 48 hours to issue a ruling.
