The CEO of the Transmission System and Market Operator (KOSTT), Evetar Zeqiri, following a meeting with Minister Artane Rizvanolli and a representative from KEDS, stated that the electricity system is currently facing heavy loads.
He mentioned, “We are doing our best to operate within our capacity,” and noted that the heaviest loads are concentrated in specific municipalities such as Ferizaj, Malisheva, and Fushë Kosovë.
Regarding the issue in Fushë Kosovë, Zeqiri confirmed that the construction of the substation has been completed, and there will no longer be load-related problems in the area.
“We have completed the construction of the substation in Fushë Kosovë, which was inaugurated last week. This substation has resolved the issues in Fushë Kosovë and Obiliq, and there will no longer be load problems.”
As for Ferizaj, Zeqiri said work is ongoing.
“The situation in Ferizaj is in the final stages. We had hoped to finish by the end of the year, but the load is very high. There are three substations in Ferizaj, each of which can handle up to 10 million. These are very large investments, complex projects. Due to the heavy load, partial reductions are necessary in certain areas.”
“We are addressing all the issues, and we are in the final stages of completing the works. We have faced many legal, administrative, and landowner obstacles, as well as unjust judicial decisions. Local authorities have not cooperated properly.”
Zeqiri emphasized that there has not been an energy shortage but that the high load is causing issues, which have necessitated load shedding in specific areas.
He also mentioned that work is being carried out in Malisheva.
“The problem is temporary. Production is at maximum capacity; we are operating with four blocks. So, it’s not an energy shortage, but rather a load issue.”
Meanwhile, Minister Rizvanolli requested that KOSTT and KEDS communicate more frequently with the public and take citizens’ complaints into account.
“I conveyed the citizens’ complaints regarding energy, especially from certain areas that have been impacted. I asked both operators to do their utmost to resolve the issues in all affected locations, whether due to breakdowns or overloads. They must have frequent and clear communication with citizens regarding the nature of the problems and the steps being taken.”
“We also ask citizens to follow the updates.”
The representative of KEDS also complained about the overload issues.
