The long-awaited moment has arrived in Iceland as the Moon’s shadow completely covers the Sun, bringing the total phase of the solar eclipse into view.
Iceland and Greenland are among the first locations to experience totality during this rare astronomical event, according to Sky News.
The August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse is particularly significant for Iceland, as the country will not experience another total solar eclipse until 2196.
The Moon’s shadow will then continue across Europe, passing over northern Spain and other parts of the continent.
