Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the AAK, has stated that Kosovo needs to have an alternative airport for emergency flights. Haradinaj emphasized that passengers should not find themselves in a situation where, due to the inability to land at the Prishtina Airport, they are forced to land in Belgrade or Skopje.

To address this, Haradinaj’s program suggests adapting the Gjakova Airport to serve as a strategic point for air traffic functionality. He assured that this adjustment would be made with an affordable investment within the national budget. Haradinaj further highlighted that transforming the airport into an essential asset for Kosovo’s national infrastructure and security is part of his vision for a successful Kosovo.

In recent days, adverse weather conditions have caused over 40 flight cancellations at Prishtina Airport. On Wednesday alone, 38 flights were canceled, with some diverted to neighboring airports due to visibility being under 50 meters, making the flights unfeasible.
