Ukraine has launched a new offensive in the Kursk region against Russia.
This information has been confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense, which issued a statement clarifying that the military is continuing efforts to destroy Ukrainian assault groups.
The attack has also been confirmed by the Ukrainian side, which acknowledged that an operation is underway.
Ukraine first launched its incursion into the Kursk region of Russia in August of last year, capturing a significant portion of the territory.
Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian presidential office, said, “There is good news from the Kursk region,” adding that Russia “is getting what it deserves.”
Andriy Kovalenko, a senior Ukrainian official for countering disinformation, said in a post on Telegram on Sunday, “The Russians in Kursk are experiencing great anxiety because they were attacked from multiple directions, and this was unexpected for them.”
In recent months, Russian forces have made significant advances in the area, pushing Ukrainian forces back, but have not been able to completely expel them.
It remains unclear whether this offensive is large enough to bring about any significant change on the front lines.
