Kosovo Police has announced the completion of its operational plan to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the parliamentary elections scheduled for February 9. The plan encompasses all phases of the electoral process, from the pre-election period to the conclusion of post-election activities.
In a statement released on Friday, the operational plan outlines four key phases:
- Pre-Election Period: Preparations and preliminary assessments.
- Election Campaign Phase: Ensuring security during campaign activities.
- Election Day – “Day Z”: Maximum security measures at polling stations and for sensitive election materials.
- Post-Election Period: Transport and safeguarding of sensitive materials until the completion of the process.
Focus on Security
Kosovo Police has emphasized its commitment to creating a safe and peaceful environment before, during, and after the elections. Specific measures include:
- Securing polling stations and election depots.
- Escorting and safeguarding election materials.
- Maintaining public order at counting centers and other critical locations.
Addressing Electoral Offenses
In coordination with the State Prosecutor’s Office, Kosovo Police will take action against any criminal offenses that infringe upon voting rights. Special investigators have been assigned to regional police directorates to handle any incidents that may arise during the electoral process.
Additionally, coordinators have been appointed to work closely with the Central Election Commission (CEC), and detailed instructions have been issued to police officers regarding their legal duties and responsibilities during the elections.
