President Joe Biden is set to deliver a farewell address to the nation on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. ET. Speaking from the Oval Office, the president will reflect on his administration’s accomplishments just days before President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated, reports ABC News.

This marks one of Biden’s rare appearances behind the Resolute Desk. His previous addresses from the Oval Office included remarks on the Hamas terror attack in October 2023 and commemorating the one-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.

A Reflection on Service and Legacy

Biden’s farewell speech comes after his decision to step back from the 2024 presidential campaign. During that announcement, he expressed his deep commitment to the nation over personal ambition, saying, “I revere this office, but I love my country more. Defending democracy is more important than any title.”

Highlighting Achievements in Foreign Policy

On Monday, Biden will also speak at the State Department, focusing on his foreign policy legacy. A senior administration official emphasized the president’s efforts to rebuild alliances and confront global challenges, including strained relations with China, the aftermath of Afghanistan, and the global pandemic.

“When President Biden began his term, America’s alliances were in disarray. Now, as he prepares to leave office, those partnerships are stronger than ever, and we’ve delivered results for the American people,” the official stated.

Biden’s remarks will underscore how his administration confronted international and domestic challenges, leaving the nation in a more secure position. He will also outline the continued threats America faces and how the next administration will inherit a strengthened foundation.

President Biden’s farewell address will serve as a capstone to his presidency, celebrating achievements and reflecting on the honor of serving the nation.
