Kosovo lawyer Arber Jashari has expressed his satisfaction with the arrest of Marko Abramović, who is suspected of committing war crimes during the Kosovo War, particularly for his involvement in the Meja Massacre. In a post on Facebook, Jashari described the arrest as “very good news” and emphasized that Abramovic is now awaiting a decision from Montenegrin authorities regarding his extradition to Kosovo.
Jashari expressed his hope that the Montenegrin courts would make a fair and impartial decision, allowing Abramovic to face justice for his alleged role in the massacre, which resulted in the deaths of 377 ethnic Albanian civilians in the village of Meja in 1999. The lawyer also called for political influences to stay out of the decision-making process, citing concerns about past interference in similar cases.
Jashari’s statement underscores the importance of legal accountability for war crimes and the ongoing pursuit of justice for the victims of the Kosovo conflict. Kosovo authorities are hopeful that Abramović’s extradition will be a crucial step in bringing perpetrators of war crimes to justice.

“The arrest of Marko Abramović suspected of war crimes in Kosovo, is very good news. We hope that the Montenegrin courts will make a fair and impartial decision, ensuring that he is handed over to Kosovo authorities. We also hope that there will be no political influence that could obstruct his extradition, as has happened in some other cases in the past.”
