“Our past should not be the future of our children.”
This was the message of Holocaust survivors at the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp in Poland.
President Vjosa Osmani also participated in this ceremony.
“Alongside world leaders, I took part in the memorial ceremony. In this horrific camp, over 1 million men, women, and children from Poland and other nations were interned, tortured, and executed in the most inhumane ways, simply because they were Jews,” Osmani wrote.
“Throughout this ordeal, Albanians opened their doors and hearts, and in good faith, sheltered Jews during the darkest days of their history.”
“Kosovo has endured the horrors of war and genocide perpetrated by Serbia, and thus understands best the importance of unity in the fight against hatred.”
