The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo has announced that 80.1% of registered voters from the diaspora participated in the parliamentary elections held on February 9, 2025.
According to CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, 15,352 voters cast their ballots at diplomatic missions, while 68,712 voters submitted their ballots via mail. However, he noted that the final percentage may change following the evaluation process of the mailed ballots.
“According to preliminary data, 15,352 out of 20,324 registered voters participated at diplomatic missions on February 8. Additionally, 68,712 mailed ballot packages have been received by the CEC from various countries. The total voter turnout from abroad stands at 80.10%, but this percentage may vary once the evaluation process is completed. In total, 104,924 Kosovo citizens were registered to vote from abroad,” Elezi stated.
The counting of diaspora votes will begin in the coming days at the Counting and Results Center, ensuring transparency in the electoral process.
The significant turnout of Kosovo’s diaspora highlights their ongoing political engagement and influence on the country’s democratic processes.
