Friedrich Merz, who is in a strong position to become the next Chancellor of Germany, spoke at his party’s headquarters.
He discussed the election campaign, calling it wonderful, but also expressed his “respect for our political opponents.”
“Now we will talk together, and it’s important to form a government as quickly as possible… The world outside is not waiting for us,” said Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democrats.
“The whole world sees that Germany has a reliable government,” he added, emphasizing, “Now we can also celebrate here.”
“Tonight we will celebrate, and tomorrow we will get back to work,” he said, according to the BBC.
