A woman has been arrested today in the Mitrovica region on suspicion of espionage. The arrested individual, identified by the initials J.Dj (J.Gj.), is reportedly from the Serbian community. According to sources from KosovaPress, she is an employee of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) and is believed to have been working with the Serbian intelligence service (BIA).
The arrest follows months of investigation by the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency. Authorities have confirmed that the arrested woman is suspected of engaging in criminal activities related to espionage.
KosovoPress also reports that OSCE officials are reportedly pressuring for her immediate release. Meanwhile, the Kosovo Police Director, Gazmend Hoxha, confirmed that the arrested woman was detained after being deemed suspicious at a border crossing. She will be transferred to the Special Prosecutor’s Office for further proceedings.
The Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office (PSRK) released a statement confirming the arrest following a collaborative investigation with the Kosovo Police’s Anti-Terrorism Directorate and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency. The woman has been detained for 48 hours, as per a decision by the State Prosecutor. Additionally, police have conducted a search of her residence to secure further evidence.
