Marigona, the daughter of Adem Jashari, gave a speech at the Academy held tonight, marking the 27th anniversary of the KLA’s Epopenë.
Marigona spoke with an emphasis on the contribution of women in the war for Kosovo’s freedom.
With emotional words, she mentioned the women who contributed at various stages throughout history.
Her speech also moved Rifat Jashari, her uncle.
“The Epic of March that we commemorate today gathered attention and hope in a place where life was sacrificed for freedom. In a place where the ranks of those who defended national dignity never stopped. Our past is distinguished by the commitment to freedom. In this path, the daughters and women of Albania have contributed. We remember the fighters of all wars for liberation. We remember Shotë Galica, we remember the students in the protests of 1981. We remember Xhevë Lladrovcin and the women fighters of the KLA. The contribution of our mothers. In this short speech, I wanted to emphasize the contribution of women, as sometimes we forget their contribution throughout history. This tradition continued even in the Epic of March, where the members of the Jashari family and neighborhood sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation. Albanian women were the backbone of the national cause. On behalf of the family, I thank you for your participation,” said Marigona Jashari.
