Emilia Rexhepi confirms support for Kurti in forming the new government.
Emilia Rexhepi from the New Democratic Party has declared that she will support Albin Kurti in forming the new government.
The New Democratic Party, representing the Bosniak community, won one seat in the February 9th elections for the 9th Legislature of the Kosovo Assembly.
Rexhepi expressed confidence that Kurti will have the power to form the new government, given that the Vetëvendosje Movement (VV) won 48 seats in the Assembly.
“I have been the deputy prime minister under Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and I believe I have respected and fulfilled the trust given. I think I will continue with this trust. We need to wait for the official results. Prime Minister Albin Kurti, as the leader of VV, will be the designated prime minister because VV is the winner. According to the law, they are the ones mandated to form the government. We have had governments formed with 20 or 30 deputies. Therefore, when you have 48 deputies, you have the strength to create the government. I fully believe that Mr. Kurti has the power and the possibility to form the government, together with other parties from different communities or even those Albanian parties that do not want to be destructive and want to contribute to cooperation,” said Rexhepi on Debat Plus.
Furthermore, she said that Kurti will not be dependent on the Serb List.
“I am sure, as I know Kurti, he will not be swayed by the Serb List, and the result he has achieved will be successful,” she added.
