Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney: “We Will Never Be Part of the United States”

In his first speech as Canada’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Mark Carney firmly stated that “negativity will not win a trade war” as Canada faces a tariff blockade with former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Carney also revealed that his first overseas trip would include visits to France and the United Kingdom, although he currently has no plans to meet with Trump. However, he emphasized that such a meeting would take place at the appropriate time.

When asked about the possibility of general elections, Carney joked that Canadians could expect to vote before November, with elections required to be held before October.

During the address, Carney was questioned about claims made by President Trump that Canada could become the “51st state” of the U.S. He emphatically responded: “We will never, in any form or another, be part of the United States.”

He also pointed out that Canada’s political system, including the swearing-in ceremony and the subsequent ministerial group, is fundamentally different from that of the U.S. He further stated, “We are a different country at its core. The country expects respect from America and Trump.”

Carney officially swore an oath of allegiance to King Charles during the ceremony in Ottawa, solidifying his commitment to Canada’s leadership and sovereignty.
