Brigadier General Sven Lange of the German army has taken over the leadership of the NATO Advisory and Liaison Team (NALT) in an official transfer ceremony.
He succeeds Brigadier General Christian Nawrat, who had led NALT since April 2024.
Brigadier General Christian Nawrat stated: “If you want to give good advice, you first have to learn something yourself. And there is a lot to learn in Kosovo. During my year here, I was able to learn a great deal about Kosovo’s security organizations, but also more broadly. I am deeply grateful for this.”
The new NALT Director, Brigadier General Sven Lange, praised the achievements of his predecessor and expressed: “I am confident that the appointment of a new director to oversee this mission brings new perspectives and leadership, while maintaining the essential goals and objectives of this important mission,” he emphasized.
Brigadier General Lange has had a distinguished career in the German Armed Forces, having served in senior positions at the German Command and Staff College, the German Federal Ministry of Defence, and NATO’s Headquarters.
Since August 2016, NALT’s mission has been to support the capacity-building efforts for the continued development of security organizations in Kosovo, including the Kosovo Security Force, within its original civil defense mandate.
