The European Union is preparing to defend its interests with proportional countermeasures against the tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump and will work with its partners in this regard, said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after a phone call with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Von der Leyen also stated that the EU is committed to working closely with the United Kingdom on security and defense and is concerned about Russia’s obstruction of efforts for peace in Ukraine.
The President of the European Commission will meet with Starmer in London on April 24 as part of the International Conference on the Future of Energy Security.
