The KFOR mission commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, presided over the change of command ceremony for the Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Intelligence Battalion held today at Film City in Prishtina.
During the ceremony, outgoing commander Lieutenant Colonel Giovanni De Santis officially handed over the NATO flag to his successor, Lieutenant Colonel Salvatore Salvaggio of the Italian Army.
“Major General Barduani expressed his appreciation for Lieutenant Colonel De Santis’s leadership and dedication, highlighting the high levels of readiness and professionalism demonstrated by the unit’s personnel. He also wished Lieutenant Colonel Salvaggio a successful command,” KFOR said in a statement.
KFOR continues to carry out its mandate based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), contributing to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities in Kosovo and ensuring freedom of movement at all times and in an impartial manner.
KFOR works closely with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), coordinating efforts in line with their respective security responsibilities.
