U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order extending for one more year a package of anti-Russia sanctions initially introduced by his predecessor, Joe Biden, according to the U.S. Federal Register.
On April 15, 2021, the Biden administration issued Executive Order 14024, imposing sanctions on Russian individuals and entities suspected of involvement in cyber activities against the United States, efforts to undermine election processes in the U.S. and other countries, attempts to harm or kill American citizens, and sanctions targeting financial and other operations.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated in March that Russia considers all sanctions imposed on it to be illegal and continues to expect them to be lifted.
