Shaip Kamberi, the only Albanian MP in the Serbian Parliament, stated that Serbia’s new government brings no substantial change and represents a continuation of President Aleksandar Vučić’s policies.
He criticized the appointment of Demo Berisha, an ethnic Albanian close to the Serbian ruling authorities, as Minister for Human Rights, emphasizing that this move does not reflect the interests of the Albanian community.
“The appointment of a candidate aligned with the ruling power, without representative legitimacy among Albanians in Serbia, shows that minority rights are not a priority. This position is more of a political spectacle than a step toward genuine inclusion,” Kamberi said.
Regarding the new government’s stance on Kosovo, Kamberi said that there is no sign of any shift in approach, and that the policy of denying reality continues.
“This is a government of continuity. In the prime minister-designate’s exposition, there was no mention of minority rights, freedom of expression, or the political crisis — a worrying message for the future,” he added.
Kamberi emphasized that the new government lacks the will to address Serbia’s real democratic challenges, and that the Albanian community continues to be excluded from decision-making institutions, despite repeated promises of equal integration.
