The Organization of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-UÇK) has reacted strongly to the announcement of an upcoming visit by the President of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, scheduled for May 13 in Prishtina, Gazeta Sinjali reports.

In a public statement, the organization described the visit as a “deliberate provocation” and a “grave insult” to the legacy and sacrifice of Kosovo’s liberation war.

According to the veterans, the timing of the visit is especially offensive, as May 13 carries heavy symbolic weight for the Albanian people.

“May 13 is a dark day in our history — the founding date of the UDB, the most brutal persecutor of Albanians, and the anniversary of the heroic fall of Tahir and Nebih Meha in Prekaz,” the statement reads.

Institutionalized Injustice

The OVL-UÇK fiercely criticized the Specialist Chambers, accusing it of being an institutionalized injustice that targets only former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) while ignoring crimes committed by Serbian forces during the war.

“The visit on this date, on this land, with a one-sided agenda and no historical sensitivity, is an offense to every fighter and every family of a fallen hero,” the organization said.

They also condemned what they describe as prolonged and unjust pretrial detention of KLA leaders, stating that they face unequal treatment and are being punished before the trial has concluded.

“Kosovo has nothing to be ashamed of. The KLA’s war was clean, just, and necessary,” the statement continues.

The declaration concludes with a clear message of defiance and solidarity:

“We will not stay silent. Freedom for our fighters!”
