The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) formally submitted a request on Monday to the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRrE) to annul the decision to raise electricity prices, Reporteri.net reports.

The party outlined four key demands from its MPs and other signatories:

  1. Annulling or delaying the price hike for at least one year to allow time for actual market liberalization and for businesses to prepare.
  2. Implementation of open and public consultations in line with legal requirements for decisions with major impact, including energy tariffs.
  3. Submission of a full market analysis to the Assembly immediately after its constitution, along with the market liberalization decision.
  4. Cancellation of the price increase for household consumers, with a commitment to find alternative solutions that don’t burden citizens.

LDK stated that this step is essential to protect the interests of citizens and businesses during these sensitive times. The initiative was signed by 30 MPs and formally submitted by LDK MP Hykmete Bajrami and Presidency member Visar Azemi.

“This is only the first step in protecting citizens against a decision that will negatively affect every household and business in Kosovo. Further actions will follow once the institutions elected on February 9 are established — a process currently blocked by Vetëvendosje,” the statement concluded.
