Acting U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, Marco Rubio, will travel to Turkey to take part in a potential meeting between Ukrainian and Russian representatives, scheduled for May 15 in Istanbul.
President Donald Trump had previously announced Rubio’s participation during a speech at a forum in Riyadh on Tuesday, according to Rks News.
The White House confirmed to NBC News that Rubio will attend the talks alongside U.S. presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg.
A White House official clarified that President Trump himself will not travel to Turkey this week.
The Russian side has yet to confirm the names of officials who will attend the planned discussions.
