Leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, held a meeting today with the new Italian ambassador to Kosovo, Maurizio Antonini.
In a statement following the meeting, Abdixhiku said they discussed political developments, current challenges, and Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
“Today, I welcomed Italy’s new Ambassador to Kosovo, Maurizio Antonini, at LDK’s Central Headquarters. I congratulated him on the beginning of his mandate and wished him success in his new post. Italy has always been a strong supporter of Kosovo’s independence and state-building — and a valuable friend on our path toward the European Union,” Abdixhiku stated.
He also said he informed Ambassador Antonini of LDK’s latest positions regarding what he described as an unprecedented political crisis in Kosovo.
“We talked about the country’s political developments, current challenges, and our Euro-Atlantic outlook. I briefed him on LDK’s latest stance on the unprecedented political crisis in the country. I also expressed our readiness for close institutional cooperation with the Italian embassy and its diplomatic representatives in Pristina. I thanked him for his visit, shared with him LDK’s rich historical legacy, and wished him a successful mandate in Kosovo,” Abdixhiku wrote on Facebook.
