The United States has officially accepted a Boeing 747 jet as a gift from the Qatari government, with the Air Force tasked with quickly upgrading it for use as a new “Air Force One” for President Trump, confirmed a Pentagon spokesperson on Wednesday, according to The New York Times.
“Secretary of Defense has accepted a Boeing 747 aircraft from Qatar in accordance with all federal laws and regulations,” said Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell in a statement. “The Department of Defense will work to ensure that appropriate security measures and functional requirements are met for an aircraft used to transport the President of the United States.”
The aircraft is estimated to be worth around $200 million.
