The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, today commemorated the 24th anniversary of one of the darkest events in our recent history – the Dubrava Prison massacre, where between May 19 and 24, 1999, Serbian criminal forces brutally massacred 117 Albanian prisoners and wounded more than 200 others.
Krasniqi stated that this massacre, like many other crimes committed against the people of Kosovo, is clear evidence of the genocide planned by the Serbian regime against the Albanian population.
He emphasized that remembering this tragedy reminds us of the high price of the freedom we enjoy today and the necessity to never forget the sacrifice made.
“With deep sorrow, we commemorate the 117 Albanian prisoners who were inhumanely killed by the Serbian regime. We honor all the survivors of this massacre, who had the strength to testify to the horror they experienced and reveal the painful truth of Dubrava to the world,” Krasniqi said.
He underlined that the very least that can be done is to bring the perpetrators of this massacre to justice and ensure they receive the punishment they deserve.
“The lack of justice for the victims of Dubrava remains an open wound for Kosovo. We will continue to demand justice – not out of revenge, but for truth and for the future,” concluded the PDK leader.
Eternal glory to the victims of the Dubrava Prison massacre!
