The newly elected Members of the Kosovo Assembly will return to the plenary hall on Saturday, just one day after the Kurban Bajram holiday, for what will be the 28th attempt to constitute the new legislature.
The session is scheduled for 11:00 AM, but once again, there are no concrete indications that the political deadlock will be broken.
On Thursday, for the 27th consecutive time, the Assembly failed to convene. Unlike the usual 48-hour gap between sessions, this next meeting was scheduled only 24 hours later, as all parties agreed to leave Friday free in observance of the holiday.
The stalemate continues due to the position of Vetëvendosje (VV), which insists on a secret ballot for its candidate for Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu.
So far, Haxhiu has failed to secure the necessary majority, and opposition parties have refused to support her, citing a lack of broad consensus.
As the deadlock persists four months after elections, the constitutional and political impasse has begun to raise concern both domestically and internationally, with increasing pressure on all sides to find a resolution.
