The Organization of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL UÇK) has addressed a letter to President Vjosa Osmani concerning the recent decision to extend the mandates of the EU Rule of Law Mission (EULEX) and the Special Chambers.

“We wish to know whether a decision has been made regarding the extension of the mandate and if there has been any new exchange of letters with the current High Representative of the European Union, Ms. Kaja Kallas, in relation to this latest decision on the mandates of EULEX and the Special Court,” the letter sent to President Osmani reads.

Full text of the letter:

Honorable Madam President Vjosa Osmani,

The Organization of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army addresses you regarding the recent decision to extend the mandate of the EULEX Mission in Kosovo and the Special Chambers for an additional two-year period (2025–2027), as publicly reported by European and local media.

We are aware that in the past, such a decision was formalized through an official exchange of letters between you and the High Representative of the European Union.

We wish to know if the decision to extend the mandate has been taken and whether there has been a new exchange of letters with the current High Representative of the EU, Ms. Kaja Kallas, concerning this latest decision on the EULEX and Special Chambers mandates.

Since many of our fellow veterans are currently detained at the Special Chambers in The Hague, as an organization we are directly interested parties in this process.
