Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is attending the high-level NATO Summit taking place on June 24–25 in The Hague, Netherlands. The summit focuses on collective defense, increased joint defense spending, and addressing both regional and global security threats.
During the summit, Rama will hold a bilateral meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The Albanian delegation includes senior officials such as Igli Hasani, Pirro Vëngu, Vlora Hyseni, and Arben Kingji. One of the main points on the agenda is the security situation in the Western Balkans.
In the evening, Rama and his wife, Linda Rama, will attend an official dinner hosted by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. World leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will also be in attendance.
Over 10,000 security personnel have been deployed for the summit, covering land, sea, and air operations. On Tuesday, NATO members are expected to discuss and potentially approve a new strategic defense framework, in light of ongoing Middle East tensions and the war in Ukraine.
