U.S. President Donald Trump made remarks following the NATO Summit, stating that it was “a long road, but worth it,” according to The Guardian.

Trump said that extraordinary things were achieved at this summit.

He praised the organizers — the Netherlands, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte — and then turned to the recent “massive” strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

“This extraordinary display of American strength has paved the way for peace — a historic ceasefire agreement set for Monday.”

He described the conflict as: “We’re calling it the 12-Day War. I spoke with some people, and it just seemed like the right name — the 12-Day War.”

Meanwhile, NATO leaders have pledged to invest 5% of their Gross Domestic Product annually in defense and security spending by 2035, “to ensure individual and collective obligations” are met, according to the final text of the Hague Summit declaration approved during Wednesday’s meeting.

The declaration states that members will present “annual plans” that outline “a credible and gradual path toward achieving this goal,” with a more comprehensive progress review set for 2029.

The five-point declaration also reaffirms “the unwavering commitment of all 32 nations to collective defense, as defined in Article 5 of the Washington Treaty — that an attack on one is an attack on all.”

The document also includes a line pledging continued support for Ukraine and emphasizes that “its security contributes to our own,” although it does not directly condemn Russia.

However, it does include a specific line identifying “the long-term threat posed by Russia to Euro-Atlantic security.”
