NATO is expected to unveil new defense contracts worth tens of billions of dollars during its upcoming summit in Ankara, Türkiye, as part of a broader effort to strengthen the alliance’s military capabilities.

The announcement was made by Mark Rutte, who stressed that member states must reinforce their defense industries and translate their economic strength into concrete military capabilities.

According to Rutte, NATO aims to overcome the fragmentation of national defense industries and increase cooperation among allied nations by reducing bureaucracy and encouraging innovation in the security sector.

He stated that the NATO Summit, scheduled for July 7–8 in Ankara, will serve as a platform to showcase progress in expanding military production and strengthening industrial cooperation among alliance members.

Rutte emphasized that amid growing global security challenges, enhancing defense capabilities has become a top priority for NATO and its partners. The expected contracts are intended to accelerate weapons production, improve readiness, and ensure that the alliance can respond more effectively to future threats.

The summit is expected to focus heavily on defense spending, military-industrial cooperation, long-term deterrence, and strengthening NATO’s collective security posture.
