A powerful heatwave continues to grip large parts of Europe, with health warnings issued across several countries due to scorching temperatures.
Southern Spain remains the hardest-hit region, where temperatures soared into the mid-40s Celsius, especially in Seville and surrounding areas.
A new national June heat record of 46°C was set on Saturday in the town of El Granado, according to Spain’s national meteorological agency. Officials warn that this June could become the hottest ever recorded in the country.
Red alerts for extreme heat are active in parts of Portugal, Italy, and Croatia, while yellow warnings are in effect across broad regions of Spain, France, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
Meteorologists are urging people to stay indoors during peak heat hours, remain hydrated, and check on vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children.
