More than 50,000 citizens have been forced to evacuate their homes due to powerful wildfires engulfing the provinces of Izmir, Manisa, and Hatay in Turkey.
These figures were confirmed this Monday by the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), which announced in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) that “over 50,000 citizens from 41 different areas have been temporarily relocated to safer places.”
In Izmir, the flames continue to spread for a second consecutive day, with strong winds hindering firefighting efforts, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Local authorities and emergency teams are actively engaged on the ground to control the situation and protect at-risk communities.
