A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey at midday today, with tremors felt as far as Istanbul.

According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the epicenter was located in Kios (Gemlik), southeast of the Marmara Sea region, near the city of Bursa. This is the same area where two other quakes occurred yesterday, measuring 4.2 and 3.9, just 70 minutes apart.

The tremor was felt in Istanbul and surrounding areas, though no damage or casualties have been reported so far.

“We need to remain alert this is a region located on an active fault line,” warned Turkish seismologist Süleyman Pambal.

Authorities are continuing to monitor seismic activity in the region.
