The Chairman of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, commemorated the Battle of Loxhë and paid homage to those who fell in one of the fiercest confrontations of the Kosovo Liberation War.
“On July 6, 1998, in Loxhë of Peja, one of the most intense battles against enemy forces took place. It was among the strongest clashes of our war, where the sons of Loxhë and surrounding villages defended the land and honor of this country—until self-sacrifice.”
Haradinaj emphasized the unyielding spirit and sacrifice of the fighters and highlighted the historical significance of Loxhë’s contribution to Kosovo’s path to liberation.
“By remembering the relentless efforts of the fighters and their great will for freedom, we honor Loxhë’s contribution during the most glorious period of our recent history, and we bow with respect before the martyrs who became eternal in the foundations of our liberty.”
He named several of those who fell in the battle:
Tahir Shala
Rrustem Bruqi
Enver Alaj
Lumni Surdulli
Xhavit Qufaj
Haradinaj also remembered fighters from Rudicë village:
Nimon Bajraktari
Haki Ahmetxhekaj
Bashkim Mehmetaj
They died while bringing the “weapons of freedom.” On the same day, fellow soldier Arsen Mazrekaj also fell in action.
“Eternal honor to all the freedom fighters,” Haradinaj concluded in his Facebook post.
