The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, carried out a working visit to the Republic of Latvia at the invitation of Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs.
During the one-day visit, President Osmani was received with high honors by President Rinkēvičs. The two leaders held a bilateral meeting, followed by a joint working session with delegations from both countries.
At the joint press conference following the meetings, President Osmani expressed deep appreciation for Latvia’s continued support for Kosovo. On this occasion, she awarded President Rinkēvičs with the Presidential Military Medal for the Latvian Armed Forces, in recognition of their contribution to peace and security in Kosovo through participation in the KFOR mission.
“Thank you to President Rinkēvičs and the Republic of Latvia for the warm welcome and unwavering friendship with Kosovo!” President Osmani stated at the conclusion of the visit.
While in Riga, President Osmani also visited NATO’s Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence (STRATCOM), where she was briefed on the center’s critical role in combating disinformation and enhancing cybersecurity. She also held meetings with representatives of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and participated in a roundtable discussion with experts and academics on sustainable peace and security policies.
This visit is part of Kosovo’s broader efforts to strengthen interstate relations with partner countries, deepen cooperation in areas such as foreign policy, defense, security, economy, and Euro-Atlantic integration, and exchange experiences in building strong democratic institutions.
