The Basic Court in Prishtina will hold a hearing today, July 17 at 13:00, for Bojan Jevtiq, the police lieutenant arrested on suspicion of espionage.

Court spokesperson Mirlinda Gashi confirmed to Betimi për Drejtësi that the session is set for early afternoon.

Jevtiq was arrested following a joint operation by the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), and the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (IPK). Authorities suspect him of engaging in espionage activities while serving as Chief of Operations at the Dheu i Bardhë border crossing.

During a search of Jevtiq’s home in a village in Kamenica, law enforcement confiscated:

  • Confidential Kosovo Police documents
  • Multiple smartphones
  • USB drives
  • One handgun and ammunition
  • €10,000 in cash
  • 2 million Serbian dinars
  • 600 Swiss francs
  • Other materials that are now subject to forensic examination

Jevtiq is currently in 48-hour custody, and the Special Prosecution is expected to request pre-trial detention within the legal timeframe.

The Police Inspectorate has also recommended his suspension from duty.

Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sveçla stated that Jevtiq is the sixth person arrested for espionage in Kosovo, warning that anyone abusing public institutions to undermine the country will face zero tolerance.

“The fate of these cases will be shared by anyone who tries to undermine the role entrusted to them in the police. We will remain uncompromising and vigilant against every effort that turns our public institutions into tools of attack against our Republic,” Sveçla emphasized.
