The “Ali Hadri” Association of Historians of Kosovo, Deçan branch, has called on parliamentary political parties, elected deputies, and relevant institutional factors to demonstrate high state responsibility and make the constitution of the Assembly possible tonight, ending the political deadlock.

A Call to End the Institutional Stalemate

The fifty-fourth session of the Assembly is set to continue tonight at 10:00 PM. This follows the interruption of an earlier session on the final day of the 30-day constitutional deadline. After this, deputies are unable to take any action to constitute the ninth legislature until August 8, following a temporary measure by the Constitutional Court.

The historians of Deçan specifically called on Avni Dehari, in his capacity as the presiding speaker of the constitutive session, to strictly adhere to the agenda agreed upon by the political parties and in the meeting with acting Assembly Speaker Glauk Konjufca.

“Any deviation from this agreement will be considered a violation of the democratic process and an obstacle to resolving the crisis. Conversely, Dehari bears moral responsibility for deepening this institutional deadlock,” the association stated.

Protecting the Democratic Order

The “Ali Hadri” Association of Historians emphasized that the state cannot and must not be held hostage by political calculations and narrow party interests. They warned that entering an institutional vacuum and constitutional uncertainty would seriously harm the democratic order, the functioning of institutions, and citizens’ trust in Kosovo’s constitutional system.

“Kosovo needs political stability, functional institutions, and a commitment to the national interest. Inaction is a national detriment. Kosovo must not remain hostage,” the statement concluded.
