Tensions flared during a Europa League qualifying match last night in Poznań, Poland, where Lech Poznań hosted Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) in the third qualifying round of the tournament.

Although the Serbian club won the match 1-3, the event was overshadowed by provocative and politically charged actions from fans in the stadium.

A controversial banner reading “Kosovo is Serbia” was prominently displayed by supporters in the stands, accompanied by the Serbian national flag—a move widely seen as a direct provocation against Kosovo.

The incident has drawn strong reactions, particularly due to its recurrence in international matches involving Serbian teams.
Adding to the outrage, Serbian media outlets praised the display, claiming that Polish fans had earned their admiration through this act.

Such scandalous and inflammatory gestures have become increasingly common whenever Serbian clubs compete abroad, raising concerns over the use of sports platforms to promote nationalist rhetoric.
