Following a phone call with Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the United Kingdom’s envoy for the Western Balkans, Dame Karen Pierce, held another conversation—this time with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
According to a statement from the British Embassy in Serbia, the discussion focused on concerns regarding the recent tensions between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as the urgent need for sustainable solutions within the framework of the EU-mediated dialogue.
The statement emphasized the importance of both parties returning to constructive engagement to resolve outstanding issues, aiming to ensure stability and peace in the region.
“Dame Karen Pierce, the Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, spoke yesterday with President Vučić to discuss her concerns about recent tensions between Serbia and Kosovo and the necessity to resolve unresolved issues through the EU-facilitated Dialogue,” the statement reads.
The communiqué also references her talks with acting Prime Minister Kurti and developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
They additionally discussed ongoing developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dame Karen highlighted the UK’s anticipation to welcome Serbian representatives to the Berlin Process meetings in the UK this October. She also spoke earlier this week with Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister Kurti.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly stated several times that he prevented a potential Serbian attack on Kosovo, effectively stopping a war.
